Losing It
There are some things the books don’t tell you. But like I said when I started this blog, I’ll tell the truth about everything.
I knew I would lose some hair, and it’s started. I had read (and heard) that it’s because of all the hormones that hair doesn’t fall out during pregnancy, so many women experience luxurious hair. But then after having the baby, it’s catch up time, so a bunch of hair starts to fall out. First I noticed there was hair on the bathroom floor, which I hadn’t seen for nine months. I was prepared for this and hoping it wouldn’t be too bad. Then I noticed another type of hair: pubic hair.
Which makes sense. That’s another type of body hair and it’s true — I was plentiful “down there” but I couldn’t see my vajayjay for some time, so I had no idea how plentiful. And it suddenly dawned on me recently that I never saw any loose pubic hair in my bathroom or shower during my pregnancy. I guess that’s why some pregnant women continue with the brazilian waxes.
Anyway, I also recently noticed some in my underwear whenever I’d go to the bathroom. Then, the other night — while taking a shower and cleaning myself — many strands were in my hands. I couldn’t believe it! It was like a neverending fall out of pubic hair.
When I got out of the shower, I decided to look down there. If you’ve ever had a baby vaginally, you know how scary that is. When I was about two months postpartum, I talked to my friend about all the vajayjay recovery, she said, “No matter what, don’t look down there for awhile, okay? Just don’t.” I took that sage advice to heart and hadn’t looked. Until now.
Well, I partially looked. I was mystified by the pubic hair loss, so I looked and noticed that yes, there were “bald spots.” Hmm, I guess I don’t need to wax! Then I kinda went further and looked at the vajayjay. It. Didn’t. Look. The. Same.
My vajayjay is forever changed.
Sigh. Loss of hair. Check. Loss of taut skin. Check. Loss of former self. Check.

Two Month Baby Check-Up
Peyton had his two month check-up this week and seems to be doing great. When we first brought him home, we were going to the pediatrician every week because he was consistently losing weight. Then his pediatrician didn’t see him for the one month appointment, so when she walked in at the two month one, she said, “Goodness, he’s changed so much! He looks like he’s four months!”
At his one month check-up, he was 12 lbs 9 oz and 23 3/4 inches and was 97 percentile. At two and a half months, he came in at 15 lbs (96 percentile), 25 3/4 inches (92 percentile), and 15 inches for head (55 percentile) circumference. So he seems to be leveling off a bit and I think the hub is worried. He likes to think Peyton’s largeness is what makes him unique!
The dr said he’s developing a little more advanced. Peyton clasps his hands and folds his arms together, which is a four month milestone. I didn’t know this. Also, his laughing at us when we interact with him is also a four month milestone. I also didn’t know this. He’s been pushing down with his legs when lifted, which I DID know is advanced, and worries me because I’m not ready to child proof everything yet! The dr said gently, “Yeah, it looks like he’s probably going to crawl and walk early.” He’s been drooling a lot and I was worried he was starting to teeth, but thankfully it doesn’t appear so. Adapting
I haven’t forgotten about the blog! I have many posts in “draft” mode that I’m working on, including my labor and recovery (no, I haven’t forgotten it all, so yes, pregnancy amnesia is a myth).
I went in for another check-up at the OB/GYN the other day. I still didn’t feel like I was completely “normal” down there, so I asked to go in. The dr said I was healing “beautifully” and there were a couple of small stitches still healing. STILL?! I told her I was feeling pressure when urinating and she said I might have a bladder infection, which is common. She checked my cervix and said it was a little low, but not bad. Same with the bladder. She asked me to do a kegel and smiled, “Oh, that’s great. That’s really good. Best one I’ve ever felt!” Um, thanks. She told me to continue the kegels and my bladder and cervix would move up. Then she said, “Everything appears normal. It just takes getting used to. This is the new normal from now on.” Oh.
A short update though… the little bugger doesn’t sleep much in the AM, so I have a hard time blogging. But I can’t complain too much because when we put him down to bed between 7:30-9 PM, he doesn’t wake up until about 5-8 AM! It just kinda happened on its own. We put him down one night when he was about 5-6 weeks old and he slept through the night!
He’s very healthy… the latest stats were 15lbs and almost 24″ long! Although I think he might be leveling off, to the dismay of the hub. Peyton isn’t eating as much as he used to. (more…)

Thanks, Sis
A recent conversation with my sister:
“I noticed that your arms are still chunky in your photos,” she said. “You know, if you don’t lose your belly by the third month, you’ll probably have it forever.”
Um, thanks, sis. I’ll be sure to think of you when I go to my cardio kickboxing class.
