About (Pregnancy)

I don’t want the title to make you think I’m not happy about being pregnant. Yes, I want a child. But I think a lot of people just don’t tell you how damn HARD it is to be pregnant, especially in the first trimester when you can’t tell anyone and feel like CRAP.

In your non-pregnancy years, you see photos of smiling, healthy pregnant women who glow and look like they can run marathons. No one tells you that if you were anything close to Wonder Woman pre-pregnancy, a pregnancy will bring the healthiest woman to her knees.

So this is just the truth and nothing but. Just for my sake. So I’ll remember if I decide on venturing down this path again. (And since I’m pregnant right now, my inclination is “let’s adopt a 10-year-old next time.”)

By the way, if anyone ever invents something where the husband can feel the same symptoms, I would pay through the nose. My husband has been very supportive, but I think he should be me for a day and see how he copes!

About Me
I’m Chinese-Canadian and live outside the Washington, DC area with my Chinese-American husband and 8-year-old Akita/Lab. (So our kid will be Chinese-Canadian-American!)

Hi! I found your blog through Ramamama’s and I am enjoying reading it.

I am the mom of four grown children. While I had great births (including two at home) and I adore being a mother, I also hated being pregnant.

Hang in there. When you reach that irrational state where you feel you will be the first woman in history to be pregnant forever, you will finally have your precious little baby in your arms.

I am also a retired childbirth educator and breastfeding instructor. Try not to be too freaked out about c-sections and big babies. Women have been giving birth for all time. Stay moving, stay upright, stay focused and positive and you will do fine.

But, if all else fails, ask for lots of drugs and remember, this too shall pass. lol

    Good luck,
    Marie

Hi, I ran across your blog several months ago and have really enjoyed reading it. I am also pregnant with my first, due in August and, while happy about the little one to come, have not enjoyed being pregnant. I especially like your segment about the stupid comments people make to pregnant women and the strange looks you get, etc. I hope your birth went as well as can be expected, looking forward to more posts!

Like most Mothers and moms to be, I love having a child but does being pregnant have to feel this way. Iam only halfway through and I cant figure out how I’ll do the rest of the upcoming months. Everyday has a new suprise, from constipation, to nausea, weakness and lack of energy to just feeling like #*%$*!.
Sorry I dont mean to vent but everyone around me seems to act like I should be able to go mountain climbing and if I say I cant or dont feel great then I am being a being nag.
